Living in a small space like a tiny home or an RV will likely bring up challenges unique to the use and function of the space. I’ve owned my 24’ RV now since 2015 and have slowly customized it to meet my needs. Here are 20 items I have painstakingly searched out, read reviews and decided to use in my RV. I hope you will find just the right items that can solve your tricky space problems! Thanks for reading!
1. Happy Campers RV Holding Tank Treatment is the best product I’ve found for keeping toilet odors at bay. Just one scoop per tank and I don’t have to worry about my RV smelling unappealing! Over the summer I ran out of Happy Camper and used a different product which I had bought on a clearance sale. That was a mistake! Summer heat made the smells even worse, so I quickly ordered myself another bucket of Happy Camper!
2. Super Bright 921 LED Bulbs have been a game changer with my energy usage. In the past I could hear my inverter ramping up when I would have just two light switches on at the same time. After replacing all the bulbs my inverter now stays completely silent! These use a fraction of the electricity and are SO much brighter! Before swapping them out, my 2015 RV felt like a dimly lit house from the 70’s… now I can actually see what I’m doing!
3. Copper RV Water Heater Tank Rinser Flusher was something I overlooked and thought I could do without. Turns out it is very difficult to spray my hose directly into the hot water heater! Imagine me blasting water all over myself… that may have happened. This gadget is inexpensive and makes cleaning out the sediment in the heater efficient and a lot less like me taking an outdoor shower while fully dressed!
4. RecPro RV Shower Doors put an end to my battle with the shower curtain! If you know, you know… the shower is already a tiny space… having a shower curtain that’s hell bent on sticking to my wet rear end is a whole other level of annoying! This RV Pleated Folding Shower door transformed the look of my space and the enjoyment of my tiny shower!
5. RV Roof Vinyl Seal Replacement for Roof Vents were an easy way to improve the energy efficiency of my vents. The old seals were hardened, yellowing and crusty. These inexpensive replacements went on perfectly and created a soft, tight seal to help maintain my indoor climate control.
6. Stainless Steel Hydraulic Door Suction Magnetic Stopper saved my sanity! You might be familiar with that one door that has a mind of its own!? My bathroom door just loved to mock me by partially closing itself and constantly getting in the way! Introducing the best way to keep that door where you want it! The magnet is strong, and the door can be flung open and sticks like a charm!
7. Bungalow Flooring Waterhog Runner Door Mat is a must have! It’s thick, absorbent and backed with rubber to protect your floors from water, snow, and mud. A perfect high function entry mat with stylish pattern options for all those busy in and out feet.
8. Wall Mount Self-Adhesive Storage Organizer has come in handy for me. I have four of them! One stuck to each side of the master bed/wall area… it holds my chapstick, ear plugs, and phone at night. One in my bathroom holds my comb, pick, lip stain and bobby pins. One by the entry door hold my wallet, gum, lip balm and headphones.
9. Wall Mounted Organizer Shelf fits perfectly in my bathroom and holds my essential oils, nail polish, supplement bottles and even some jewelry and hair accessories! This is the perfect shelf for an RV. The bars across each level keep items from falling while driving. My hook earrings hang on the little bars and some of my clips fit on the top decorative bars. I mounted it with four command hooks.
10. Mesh Hanging File Organizer Racks are perfect for the kids bunks and near my bed. I have four books in mine and the kids keep their current reads handy as well. Put one by the entry for incoming and outgoing mail, in the kitchen for your go-to cookbooks, or stash your coloring books and bag of color pencils. Easy to hang with command hooks!
11. Wall Mounted Double Bar Stainless Steel Magnetic Knife Holder with 8 Hooks adds function to my small kitchen. I hang my favorite essential three knife set along with my measuring spoons and cups, knife sharpener, multi-tool and mini cutting board. It has been up for over five years, and I’ve never had anything fall from it with all the bumps my RV has endured!
12. Space Saving Kitchen Cabinet Shelf Rack Storage Organizers helped me to maximize the tiny cabinets in my RV. I use bins that slide under and sit on top to hold my pantry items. I have a bin for tea, protein bars, pasta, dried fruits, nuts, and miscellaneous food items. My protein powder jugs fit under and on top along with many other supplements, coffee, a few mixing bowls. You name it! Use for your bathroom cabinets or even under the sinks!
13. Clear Plastic Pantry Organizer Bins fit under and on top of the shelf racks above. They also work well in the refrigerator, under the sinks, in closets or the bathroom!
14. Wire Farmhouse Scoop Storage Bin Baskets with Handles saved the day for my fruit! I searched high and low for a solution to my fruit storage issue. The handles on these allowed me to hang them from under an upper kitchen cabinet while the scoop front keeps the fruit from falling out while traveling! I put a tea towel in the bottom, and it looks super cute.
15. Wall Mounted Shoes Racks with Sticky Hanging Strips might just save you from shoe clutter insanity! My RV had nowhere to put shoes! Thes fit a variety of shoe sizes and can be mounted in the perfect locations for your family’s needs.
16. Sunbeam Wi-Fi Connected Electric Mattress Pad keeps me from freezing! I set it to preheat and warm my bed before I get in. I set it to turn off in an hour as I fall asleep. Then I scheduled it to come on at 4am and stay on for 2 hours so I wake up in a cozy warm bed but don’t overheat in the middle of the night. The unreliable free wi-fi at our RV park is enough to make it work with my phone. I love this mattress pad!
17. Sunrise Alarm Clock is not a must have for RV life… but it’s wonderful! With the seasonal changes I can keep myself on a summer sunrise schedule which helps my morning routine tremendously! The warm glow in the morning wakes me without sound usually. If not, I set mine to the sound of waves after the sun fully rises in my RV. I feel like I’m at the beach!
18. Philips Accessories 6-Outlet Extender, Resettable Circuit Breakers are handy in RVs that tend to have few outlets that are far between! I have one in the bathroom, one near the TV and one near my bed. It’s surprising how many things plug in!
19. Digital Picture Frames are perfect for the limited space in a RV. I loaded mine with all our travel photos from all our trips. I hung it on the wall with command strips and it’s a lovely solution to the lack of wall space!
20. Command Variety Pack will get you off to good start customizing your RV. I use a wide variety of command products. I was able to hang a full length door mirror, framed glass painting, my digital photo frame, various racks and organizers, my hand towels, hats and my bike helmet. Command strips are so convenient!
That’s all for now! Let me know if you try any of these items or if you have others to share with me!
